The Best Odds in Vegas: Help UBC Support NORD at Partnerships in Clinical Trials

Today kicks off the 23rd annual Partnerships in Clinical Trials (PCT) conference where we’re looking forward to connecting with many of our industry colleagues, having a little fun, and taking time to give back.

Our industry, perhaps more than any other, understands the needs of patients with rare disease and those treated by orphan and ultra-orphan medications. The fact that 70% of the drugs approved in 2013 were specialty products confirms our collective commitment to delivering life-changing therapies to the 30 million Americans affected by rare diseases.

That’s why UBC is asking all our fellow PCT attendees to join us in supporting NORD, the National Organization for Rare Disorders. NORD is a unique federation of voluntary health organizations dedicated to helping people with rare "orphan" diseases and assisting the organizations that serve them. For each person who stops by the UBC booth (#903 in the CRO Salon) to have a picture taken with “The King,” we’ll donate $100 to NORD. We’ll double the donation when the photo is shared on social media using the hashtag #WhatHappensAtPCT. We’ll also send each participant home with a printed copy of the photo as a unique souvenir. Good luck finding better odds than that in Vegas!

The funds raised at the UBC booth during PCT will aid NORD in its commitment to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders through programs of education, advocacy, research, and service.

As part of the Express Scripts family, our team at UBC collaborates with Accredo Specialty Pharmacy and CuraScript Specialty Distribution to support the development and delivery of orphan therapies throughout the entire product lifecycle. We understand that the highest personalized care is possible when all points of contact come from one vendor in a coordinated manner with a focus on the patient and healthcare provider experience. We officially got the ball rolling this morning by sharing this photo on Twitter – that’s $200 in the bank for NORD. Now it’s your turn to do your part by having your photo taken, or by sending this link to your colleagues who will be attending PCT (Sideburns and jumpsuit optional).
