Cancer Patients Require Coordinated Care

UBC partners with Accredo Specialty Pharmacy to provide coordinated care to cancer patients

Cancer Patients Require Coordinated Care

While early detection and advanced oncology treatments are greatly improving the survival rate of cancer patients, new cancer cases also are on the rise.  Pharma manufacturers have responded with new oncology therapies, which are being approved in record numbers.  In fact, of the 37 medications approved in 2012, 10 are for the treatment of cancer

New and more targeted therapies have added to the variety of specialty pharmacy services needed to support cancer patients, including those who take oral oncolytics and those who are on multiple therapies.

A new article in Specialty Pharmacy Times, written by UBC’s Kevin Cast, Vice President, Global Pharmaceutical Business Development, and Monalisa Mohanty, DPh, MBA, Director of Specialty Clinical Marketing at Express Scripts, gives an overview of services and care that need to be coordinated to best provide specialized patient care and optimal patient outcomes.
