Join the UBC Beach Party at DIA and Support NORD

The 50th DIA Annual Meeting, which kicks off today, promises to be a blast. We’re looking forward to presenting some unique abstracts and connecting with industry colleagues at our social event. But the highlight of the event for our team is the chance to have fun while helping patients in a unique way.

Our industry, perhaps more than any other, understands the needs of patients with rare diseases and those treated by orphan and ultra-orphan medications. The fact that 70% of the drugs approved in 2013 were specialty products confirms our collective commitment to delivering life-changing therapies to the 30 million Americans affected by rare diseases.

That’s why UBC is asking all our fellow DIA attendees to join us in supporting NORD, the National Organization for Rare Disorders. NORD is a unique federation of voluntary health organizations dedicated to helping people with rare diseases and assisting the organizations that serve them. For each person who stops by the UBC booth (exhibit #923) to have a picture taken at our retro beach party we’ll donate $100 to NORD. We’ll double the donation when the photo is tweeted to @UBCPharma using the hashtag #DIABeachParty. We’ll also send each participant home with a printed copy of the photo as a unique souvenir.

The funds raised at the UBC booth during DIA will aid NORD in its commitment to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders through its education, advocacy, research, and service programs.

As part of the Express Scripts family, our team at UBC collaborates with Accredo Specialty Pharmacy and CuraScript Specialty Distribution to support the development and delivery of orphan therapies throughout the entire product lifecycle. We understand that the highest personalized care is possible when all points of contact come from one vendor in a coordinated manner with a focus on the patient and healthcare provider experience. We officially got the ball rolling this morning by sharing this photo on Twitter – that’s $200 in the bank for NORD. Now it’s your turn to do your part by having your photo taken, or by sending this link to your colleagues who will be attending DIA (Board shorts and boogie board optional).
