Meeting the Demands of a Changing Market

Few other fields change as rapidly as the healthcare field.  And, for me, that’s a good thing.  I enjoy the constant challenge of finding innovative ways to help pharmaceutical manufacturers provide life-changing drugs to their patients in a market affected by new health findings, economic trends, and strict regulations. 

A few years ago, we all became aware of a change in the market that demanded attention.  We learned that between 2010-2015, more than $100 billion in brand drug revenue would experience patent loss.  At first, that dollar amount seems too large to really grasp.  But, knowing the high cost of bringing a drug to the market, our HealthBridge Pharma & Biotech team at Express Scripts began thinking of all the manufacturers affected by patent expiries, and their patients – and how changes to their prescriptions might affect them. 

Now, more than any other time in the healthcare industry, past or future, patent expiries pose a significant challenge for drug manufacturers.  That’s why I’m looking forward to presenting Strategies for Products Approaching Patent Expiry at this week’s EyeforPharma Sales Force Effectiveness & Commercial Excellence conference

I’m looking forward to discussing the topic with my colleagues and helping manufacturers develop new strategies for their products.  We’re sure to have a dynamic discussion!  I’ll write more about my presentation and our conversation a little later this week.
