Reducing the Burden of Disease

Reducing the Burden of Disease

During ISPOR’s 15th Annual European Congress, held in Berlin, Germany, November 3-7, 2012, UBC will have a strong presence and an influential voice.  ISPOR, the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, works to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness of healthcare to improve health.

UBC is the only organization to have two of its leaders (Bryan Luce, PhD, MBA, Sr. Vice President, Science Policy, and Chris Pashos, PhD, Vice President) serve as past presidents of the ISPOR board of directors.

In addition, other UBC leaders have played an important role within ISPOR, building the organization and promoting its importance worldwide among government policy-makers, medical practitioners, the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries, and other focused on reducing the burden of disease.

ISPOR is recognized globally as the authority for health economics and outcomes research and its use in healthcare decisions towards improved health.  ISPOR’s European Congress and its Annual International Meeting, held each spring, are the two largest annual forums bringing together leaders engaged in or using health economics and outcomes research to establish the burden of disease and the impact of alternative diagnostics and treatment strategies to reduce that burden.

These ISPOR meetings provide an opportunity for UBC staff members to meet with manufacturer sponsors from around the world, identify needs and clinical studies that require our services.  Ultimately, our participation at ISPOR helps improve patient and societal outcomes, measured clinically, economically, and in patient-centered ways.
