A Year in Review - 2013

A Year in Review - 2013

The past twelve months have brought change, and with it, new opportunity. In our last blog post of 2013, we want to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments and share with our readers some highlights from this past year:

Integration of Accredo and CuraScript
Throughout 2013, teams at Accredo and CuraScript have worked to build one of the largest specialty pharmacies in the country. The new organization, formed under the Accredo brand, leverages best practices from both organizations and melds them into the new model. The combination of specialist pharmacists and behavior driven adherence programs allows Accredo to offer industry leading support to patients and physicians.

New Team Member: Janine Collins
UBC started the year off with a bang, by adding even more medical and scientific expertise to our roster with Janine Collins, MD. With the variations in drug and product safety across the EU, it is vital for providers of Risk Management and Pharmacovigilance services to understand the intricacies of a global launch that includes the European Union. Dr. Collins brings both of these to the table. A Risk Management professional based in Europe (Geneva, Switzerland), she is the right executive to support UBC’s commitment to the region.

Abbe Steel Named in PharmaVoice Top100
In August, PharmaVoice magazine honored Abbe Steel as one of the 100 most inspiring people in the life sciences industry. The Pharma100 are leaders in research and development, marketing, technology, creativity, strategy, medicine, etc. They positively impact their peers, their colleagues, their companies, their communities, as well as the industry at large through their actions. We couldn’t agree more that Abbe belongs on this list.

2013 Conferences – ICPE
As always, conferences played a huge role in our year one strategy to connect with you as the new UBC. We had 88 speakers from all service lines, and exhibited both locally and internationally. Of note was the August ICPE event in Montreal, our Value Demonstration team’s hometown. The event included a DAA’s User Forum and many opportunities to showcase the team’s expertise, as well as their fine city.

Golden Retriever Lifetime Study
In November, we highlighted a study that’s gone to the dogs.  Although observational studies managed by UBC generally provide insight into the health outcomes of humans, The Golden Retriever Lifetime Study used similar expertise in studying major diseases affecting canines.  In these videos on St. Louis’ KTVI and KSDK network news stations, Dr. Cathy Sigler talked further about her research. The study is still accepting dogs – sign yours up here.

PharmaExec Magazine Features UBC President Patrick Lindsay
We couldn’t think of a better way to end the year than with UBC’s President, Patrick Lindsay, on the cover of PharmaExec’s December issue. As part of the magazine’s “CEO Snaphshot” series, Patrick covered topics including key factors shaping the industry, the increasing complexity of market dynamics, the future state of regulatory standards, and UBC’s unique position in the market. The interview is also available on Pharmaceutical Executive’s website.

We look forward to embarking on even more in the New Year.  Stay tuned to our website, and connect with us on LinkedIn and Twitter to learn about our 2014 initiatives.
